Project Coordinator, South Omaha Development Project

Fast-paced, energetic civic organization has an immediate opening for a degreed business professional who is literate and bilingual in Spanish with two years of experience in business, economic development, community development, planning or related field. Incumbent will implement the priorities of the South Omaha Development Project (SODP) and will develop and implement action plans in neighborhood revitalization, economic development and transportation corridor improvement. Will develop annual comprehensive communications and marketing plans, including retail attraction and business development; and coordinate with appropriate task forces and stakeholders.

Will assist with redevelopment plans and developer attraction and assistance programs resulting in targeted development projects; will adhere to and monitor the South Omaha Development Project budget and obtain approval for expenses. Will conduct research and advocate for public policy pertaining to the strategic plan. Will work with public elected officials, agencies of the City of Omaha including the Mayor’s office, Planning Department and Public Works. Represents the SODP and the Chamber at community events and speaking engagements. Works closely with community groups, area leaders within South Omaha, economic development professionals, and developers seeking to construct different projects. Provides staff support to the Director of Community Development and the South Omaha Advisory Board. Manages interns, service learning groups and other volunteers.

Successful applicant will have experience in building consensus among diverse stakeholders and have demonstrated the ability to coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines. Will have excellent organizational, negotiation, presentation, marketing, public relations and communications skills and experience working with the media. Must be detail oriented, possess the ability to work effectively with volunteers and community members, and have demonstrated strong leadership with a record of accomplishments. Must be a dynamic team player and independent self-starter that can work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and some weekends. Must be proficient in the use of Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
