Police Auditor Broken Promise Print E-mail

Mayor Suttle

Mayor Suttle Promised North and South Omaha, and OTOC that he would Staff the Police Auditor Position that Mike Fahey pulled the plug on. Now this position will not be filled. Another broken promise. Not too long ago, on camera, taped by Cox during a Debate with the Black and Brown Coalition, he was promising the exact opposite.

Mayor Suttle easily forgot that South and North Omaha got him elected. Mayor Suttle promised our Minorities the return of this position.

Suttleness VS Ineptitude Print E-mail

Suttle

We find amusing that In the days following his election Jim Suttle has shown nothing but INEPTNESS AND INCOMPETENCE in his decisions. One can only guess what four years of this will bring the citizens of Omaha. One can be sure of is that the time between his taking office and the first petition being taken out to recall him will probably break all records for shortness of time.

After his election less than two months ago, Jim Suttle continues to amaze us with his ineptness and bad choices. Now, he's added broken promises as well. So here is a summary of Jim's first 30 days:

  1. Appoints an alleged child sex offender as a co-chief-of-staff, Matthew Samp.

  2. Appoints a individual as co-chief-of-staff who was fired by his former employer, a government organization for lying to his elected board about having an affair with a board member--an act of dishonest, Steve Oltmans.

  3. Leaves press conference on sex offender chief-of-staff issue refusing to answer any questions for the press. Word of Advice: Don't upset Joe Jordan, or Robynn Tysver.

  4. Fires alleged sex offender co-chief-of-staff.

  5. Says he will adopt the Bates (Fahey) Commission to raise taxes.

  6. Asks members of Downtown Omaha Rotary to suggest names and send resumes of potential city finance directors.

  7. Leases a 'green' vehicle as an example of how he will bring 'greenness' to the city. Except it is a 385 Horsepower Dodge Hemi SUV Hybrid that gets 20 miles to the gallon and finances it over 4 years at more than $15,000 per year cost to the city of Omaha. He tells citizens he will find cuts in budget to cover costs.

  8. Is defeated in his attemp to over-ride veto of former mayor.

  9. Announces that his solemn promise to OTOC (Omaha Together One Community) to restore the position of Police Auditor won't happen because there is no money in the budget.

  10. Announces he will refinance the Dodge Durango SUV Hybrid by making annual payments, saving citizens about $8,000 over the lease so citizens will now pay only about $60,000 for the vehicle it could have paid cash of about $40,000 for. Of course he could have bought a real hybrid but we are told by his spokesman that he needs security and the ability to quickly get around in storms. So apparently, being green isn't a goal worth making some sacrifices for.

Well, we're sure we've missed a couple more of the issues that have defined the inauspicious, embarrassing first month of his post-election but this is a good start. Well, not for Suttle.

Thanks to the Objective Conservative.

A Special Announcement from OMA PAC Print E-mail

It is our pleasure to announce the formation of the  OMA (Omaha Moving Ahead) PAC.

Our Mission

Omaha has a great deal to offer its citizens, the State and the country.  However, like many other cities, Omaha has fallen on critical times.  The city faces difficult decisions on taxes, economic development and security as it moves forward.  The difficult decisions that Mayor Suttle and the City Council will make over the next four years have direct impact to the quality of life of the people of Omaha.

It is the mission of this PAC to ensure accountability.  In addition, that the people of Omaha have a voice as the elected leaders of this city move forward on critical decisions.  In the next four years, this PAC will support legislation and initiatives that spur economic growth and development and will question actions by Mayor Suttle and the City Council that may hurt the taxpayers.

Strategy

This PAC will act as a “watch dog” to the current administration and City Council.  To be successful in this effort, the PAC will remain vocal and present in policy decisions that will have a direct impact of Omaha businesses and young professionals.  The PAC will use the tactics of earned media, new media and grassroots to effectively deliver its message.

Issues

KEEP OMAHA OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Our city is nationally recognized for our business environment, strong neighborhoods, and high quality of life. This PAC believes that if the right action is taken, we are on the verge of something even more special - a brighter, more vibrant future for Omaha.  This PAC will fight for vision with a back to basics approach that creates new business incentives, brings new workers to grow the tax base, and improves city infrastructure.

Expand business opportunities. With the arrival of Yahoo! and the continued attention given our largest and most reputable companies, Omaha has proven that we can and will compete nationally for new businesses. This PAC will defend business leaders and the Chamber of Commerce as it pressures the Suttle administration to create new incentive programs that attract regional and national employers to Omaha, employers that will create jobs and increase our revenue while building our reputation as a city that's "open for business."

Opportunities for young professionals. In the past few years, Omaha's young professionals and entrepreneurs have become increasingly involved in the future of this city.  Many of Omaha’s young professionals realize that much is at stake for their businesses and families. The PAC will fight for initiatives and legislation that will keep young workers here and provide them the economic and cultural opportunities they need to thrive.

Protect the Omaha Taxpayer.  As the City of Omaha faces trying economic times, the Suttle Administration and the City Council must look for ways to lessen the financial burden on Omaha taxpayers – not add to it.  As the city’s elected officials face critical decisions concerning the taxpayer, the PAC will make sure that financial decisions are made with careful consideration and input from the public.
